PDMA warns of floods, landslides as heavy rains lash Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Alert issued for Swat, Chitral, Peshawar, and other districts; tourists, farmers urged to take precautions

Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has predicted intermittent rain, wind, thunder and heavy rain in some areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 14 to 21 August 2025. It has also issued an alert to the related organizations and district administration.

According to weather system, the upper and middle districts including Abbottabad, Mansehra, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Kohistan, Buner, Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, D.I Khan and other districts including Waziristan has fear of flood situation from this new series of rain.

According to PDMA,  there is a fear of flood in local streams, drains, and rivers, and there is also a chance of landsliding in hilly areas, and urban flooding in urban areas. There is a high chance of increasing water level in rivers of Chitral, Swat, Panjkora and Kabul.

It was also warned in the notice that due to heavy winds and thunder, there might be a danger to weak houses, electricity poles, billboards and solar panels. During this, the district administration is also adviced to take necessary preventary measures, cleaning of drainage system, and to provide timely awareness to locals, tourists and travellers.

PDMA has also issued an alert to farmers, cattle breeders and told them to transfer their crops and animals to safe shelters and advised tourists to avoid going to any dangerous place.

Also, the related organizations are advised to make sure the availability of emergency services, medical aid, food and other things. However, the public is also appealed to avoid any unnecessary travel during this bad weather.

PDMA has also activated all emergency operation centres so that public can contact anytime on 1700 in case of any emergency situation.
